I shall always remember John as the man who took me to Highbury for the first time, took me sailing too, and he never seemed to mind that I was constantly in his house, either playing Subbuteo and Snooker or pretending to be one of Blake's 7.
And, ohhh! the Christmas games! He was the perfect host every year.
He truly was a lynchpin and a wonderful leader in the life of Hill Bottom.
